After the Launch: free webinars

November 6 - student sensemaking

Join us for one-hour webinar focused on enhancing student sensemaking through effective navigation strategies. During this session, you will have the opportunity to reflect on how intentional navigation can guide and support students in making sense of complex ideas. We’ll analyze classroom video clips to observe navigation in action, allowing participants to identify key moments where these strategies help facilitate deeper learning. Finally, we will connect these navigation techniques to the core features of high-quality instruction, helping you integrate them seamlessly into your own teaching practices.

January 8 - facilitating fabulous discussions

This engaging one-hour webinar invites educators to broaden their understanding of “student resources” in the OpenSciEd classroom. We will explore the diverse backgrounds, experiences, and skills that students bring, emphasizing the importance of recognizing and valuing these unique contributions. Participants will learn to observe and encourage students to articulate their resources, fostering a richer learning environment. Through practical strategies, we’ll discuss how to cultivate a classroom culture that not only acknowledges but actively leverages these resources to enhance scientific understanding and collaboration. Together, we’ll create a more inclusive and dynamic educational experience that empowers every student to thrive.
