Science of Flight

Students will use their own curiosity about flying to first learn how birds fly and then how planes fly. Activities highlight wing shape, the four forces of flight, and the changes in flight since the Wright brothers. This unit training will include a field trip to Austin Straubel Airport and a visit to an aviation weather station and airport control facility. In addition, all participants will have a chance to become familiar with the instrumentation in the cockpit of a small aircraft.
