Fur, Feathers, Skin and Scales

The Einstein Project's newest science unit is Fur, Feathers, Skin and Scales, meant for pre-Kindergarten students. This Early Childhood unit is the second in the Earth's Quilt series. In this unit, children compare themselves to different types of animals and in doing so learn how they are alike and different. They start by looking more closely at themselves then are introduced to mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians.

Children will understand that all animals, including themselves, have a specialized body covering. Children will gain an appreciation for the differences and similarities in the body coverings of many animals and explore the principle of camouflage.

The unit follows the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards.
